::Frame It::

Happy Tuesday, everyone.  Ang here with this weeks Hodge Podge challenge.  I am always taking lots and lots, and LOTS of photos.  Most of the time, I only get that one shot that catches my eye, but often times, I end up with a ton of adorable photos that I just don't know what to do with.  I mean, come on...you can only hang so many photos of your child eating chocolate ice cream on the wall, right.  lol.

That is why I love a multi-photo page.  It allows me to get a ton of photos down in one project.  This week, your challenge is to scrap a multi-photo layout using a variety of ways to frame your photos.

I invited Lisa and Erica to join us this week.  Welcome, ladies!  Thanks for playing along.  And now, here is some inspiration:

::Inspired by Art::

I love when I'm inspired to do something, whether its designing or a layout, or even decorating my home, when I see incredible art.  I saw this CD cover and knew I had to "scrap it."

:: a day in the life... ::

That's one of my favorite Beatle songs you know!

Hey friends! Gina here, with a fun new Hodge Podge for all of you!!

This year, it seems that many of us scrappers have decided to partake in Project 365- taking daily photos and really trying to capture the little moments we may otherwise overlook. For this challenge, I want you to take a series of photos throughout the course of one day. It's simple really: just include a minimum of 4 photos and a lot of journaling so we can experience a bit of your day with you, the artist!

Joining us this week are the very talented Emily Merritt and Brittany Farrer!

And here are some of our layouts to get you started!

journaling: I *heart* Saturdays. They are the hiccup in our week--a reminder to slow down, to breathe in the ordinary and exhale the extraordinary, to simply BE together. This Saturday, you woke up at around 8:45 a.m. Daddy got up with you and let me sleep in until 10:30 a.m. You guys played cars and watched your new Mickey Mouse movie. After I got up, we went to Brandywine Falls for a winter hike. You loved the waterfall. On our  way home we stopped at McDonalds for “chicken and fries.” Mmmmm good! When we got home, we napped, ate a simple dinner, went grocery shopping, and went to bed. Perfection.

**try something NEW!**

hey there hodge podgers!

after a nice long holiday, we are back! we missed you all and hope you're ready for some 2008 iNSPiRATiON!

this week the owner of disc talk radio--deann-- and the owner of eclectic whimsy--shawn--are here to share their art with us!  welcome girls :).

january is about new beginnings. turn a page in your life and in your art; this week try something new! scrap a new format, start a mini-album that tells a story, try a new product or font, scrap a new-to-you subject. i often find that taking a risk on something new opens all kinds of doors. get inspired; try something new this week!

i've spent the last month trying new-to-me things! i completed my first mini-album, created my first desktop calendar, started a new blog with a dear friend, and dove into project 365 with my husband in tow ;). i feel energized to be engaging my creativity beyond the 12x12 canvas. now it's YOUR turn!!!

emily

another new thing i've been doing lately is scrapping in different formats.  i've really been enjoying the rectangular 8.5x11 canvas.  next, i want to try a two-page layout!!!

so, here is my third ever 8.5x11 page:

i love looking at photos that have been "enhanced" using lightroom, but seriously, i never thought i was hip enough to try it out.  so, i did and might i say-- i'm crazy in love (now, i've got 29 days to figure out where to come up with $299! lol) i'm thrilled i tried something new, though my pocketbook might not agree!

everything from shabby miss jenn kits --snowkisses, tree trimmin' party, winter ponies & santa's bag 'o goodies except mo jackson's background papers and cardboard boxes and natalie braxton's really big ribbons (made really small - lol!) fonts are american typewriter & sp inspired.

angela

i rarely ever jump outside my comfy, go-to designer’s folder.  so, I decided to try a new designer for this challenge.  i saw some of jofia’s stuff a few weeks ago, and decided to take the plunge!  i love what i’ve used so far.  i also tried something new with my title…i don’t have one, lol.

I'm not a big "photo-blender" and the few times I have done it, they've been very soft, faint blends. This time, I wanted to try something a little edgier with a more textured blend into the background paper. I ended up combining two background papers and using a variety of blend modes to achieve the look I have here w/ my Lupus Walk banner photo. I also tried some new (to me, scrap-wise) designers, made my pictures a LOT smaller then I normally do, used fewer embellies and tried out a new font! LOL  My text has been "color burned" into the paper and I actually sandwiched it between both layers of paper.

Okay, so creating blog banners isn't necessarily something 'new' for me but for some of you it could be a new or different way to use some of your favorite digital goodies to personalize your online journal. Create a banner that says something about who you are. Or maybe use your digital supplies to embellish and frame your photos in a post or highlight a favorite quote by typing it in a great handwritten font on a piece of digital journaling paper. Blogbanner credits: Green & blue glittered papers, metal heart and purple winged heart by Annie Manning (Paint the Moon Designs), grey floral paper by Michelle Coleman, red floral paper by Jen Wilson Designs, feathered wings by Joanne Brisebois, butterfly brooch, sparkled berry doodles and tied white string by Jofia DeVoe, purple/green flower by Karah Fredricks, damask square and love wordart by Rhonna Farrer, silver metal tag by Shabby Miss Jenn, red star tape by Tia Bennett. this week the winner will receive a $10 gift card to two sisters designs!!!  happy hodge podgin' :).

**I Could Use a Lift**

Emily here and NO I wasn't talking about my boobs ;).

We all have those moments when we knock on the mojo door and get no response!

So whadayado?

I browse the galleries for inspiration and scraplift!

This week we each chose a layout that jumped out and smacked us right between the eyes.  These amazing artists have inspired our hodge-podgeyness (that IS a word, btw).

This week Jenna Desai will be bringing our winners a spectacular surprise.  That's right I said winnerS.  One hodge podger AND the artist they chose to lift will win a prize.  I would encourage you to go beyond your "regulars."  Choose to lift someone whose gallery you haven't frequented before for inspiration.  Remember, your layout doesn't have to be an exact replica of the one you choose to lift; use it as a starting point NOT the finish line :).

FROM ME

Speaking of Jenna, I'm awed by the eye-candy in her gallery and so yesterday I indulged my scrappin' sweet-tooth and picked this layout to lift:
